This is a "first-to-the-market" 1950s Mickey Mantle Mascot Dog Food Card! Only one Mascot Dog Food card had been catalogued previously (the Robin Roberts card, which was only known to exist because it was in the Beckett Almanac of Baseball Cards) and we couldn't find any Mascot Dog Food cards which have ever sold in an auction. To find a first-to-the-market 1950s Mickey Mantle card is truly amazing, and this possible one-of-a-kind Mickey Mantle card is one of the most amazing auction items that we have ever seen. Beckett has authenticated and graded the card (grade of 1.5 due to a minor pin hole) but it is the rarity of this card that makes it near impossible to put a value on. The image on this card was also used on his 1951 Wheaties baseball card and his 1955-1957 Mac Boy Decal. Beckett authenticated the card as a 1950s Mascot Dog Food card, as the exact year is difficult to determine since little is known about the cards and only one had been previously known to exist (the Robin Roberts). It is most likely that this Mickey Mantle card was from 1952, 1953, 1954 ,or 1955. We truly believe that this is one of the most amazing Mickey Mantle cards to surface in many years!
