1933 Goudey Frank Hogan #30 PSA 5 MK (Autograph Grade 5). Wow - only three have ever been graded by PSA/DNA, and this is by far the highest grade (Pop 1) as the other 2 were graded "authentic". James Francis “Shanty” Hogan (March 21, 1906 - April 7, 1967) was a large and portly catcher, who apparently resembled a “small hut”, earning the nickname Shanty. Hogan became an extremely skilled catcher, though he struggled with his weight and fought with New York Giants manager John McGraw over his eating habits. Shanty played 13 years in the Major leagues with the Boston Braves (1925-1927, 1933-1935), the Giants (1928-1932) and the Washington Senators (1936-1937). His best years came with the Giants as he batted .311 with averages of 125 hits including 20 doubles and 10 home runs, 41 runs scored and 67 RBI. Hogan and teammate, Andy Cohen, also performed a vaudeville act during their time playing together. Shanty Hogan finished his career with a .295 career batting average, 939 hits, 288 runs scored and 474 RBI in 989 games. He also posted a .979 fielding percentage with a 46% caught stealing percentage. Part of The Uncle Jimmy Collection.
