This is the only baseball ever authenticated by JSA that had Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig autographs both on the sweet spot! The baseball is a team signed baseball from the legendary 1931 New York Yankees with autographs of 27 members of the team, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Red Ruffing, Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Joe Sewell, Art Fletcher, Ben Chapman, Art Jorgens, Earle Combs, Myril Hoag, Red Rolfe, and more. The Ruth and Gehrig signatures both on the sweet spot are truly amazing and make it a highly desirable and unique baseball. It was not common to have multiple players sign the sweet spot of a baseball in the 1930s, let alone two of the most iconic players of all-time! The 1931 Yankees hold the modern era record for runs scored in a season with 1,067 (6.88 per game average). Ruth and Gehrig led major league baseball with 46 home runs each. Gehrig set an American League record in 1931 by driving in 184 runs, breaking his own record of 175 set in 1927. While the 1927 Yankees "Murderer's Row" team is often discussed as the best baseball team ever, the 1931 Yankees team is often regarded as the best hitting team of all-time, producing 6 players with 100+ runs scored and 6 players with 75+ RBIs (the 1927 Yankees had 3 and 4, respectively). All 8 position players on this 1931 team either scored 100+ runs or drove in 75+ runs!
