This is a 1960s Pottsvile Maroons 1925 Championship ring, which commemorates the original 1925 Pottsville Maroons championship season. The Maroons were originally stripped of thier championship in the year 1925 for playing a non sanctioned team (a game in which they won) by the then-league president Joe Carr, who in turn gave the championship to the Cardinals football team. Today it is widely accepted that the Maroons were and are the championship winners of 1925, since they beat the Cardinals that same year as well. Hence, rings were made to commemorate the 1925 championship season to honor those still living from that team. There were just over 100 rings made and are extremely limited. Each player/personnel still living was presented with a ring. This particular ring is approximately a size 13/14 and is faintly inscribed Alpha on the inside. This ring has a strikingly beautiful fabricated ruby as its centerpiece. This ruby represents the team color of the Maroons. A unique and rare opportunity to own a cherished piece of interesting football history.
